Full Wave Sonic Tool (FWS)

The Full Wave Sonic Tool (FWS) is specifically designed to provide detailed, high-resolution recordings of sonic signals using fixed-spaced transmitters and receivers. By digitising the received signals at a fast sampling rate, the tool delivers precise data that can be processed for P-wave velocity (or transit time) and amplitude. Under suitable conditions, estimates of S-wave velocity can also be derived, offering further insights into subsurface properties.

The P-wave velocity log is particularly useful for identifying variations in formation hardness and porosity, making the tool invaluable for geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical investigations. Please note that this tool is only compatible with fluid-filled, unlined boreholes.

  • Full Waveform Recording: Captures high-resolution sonic signals for detailed analysis.
  • P-Wave and S-Wave Analysis: Processes P-wave velocity for hardness and porosity assessments; estimates S-wave velocity under suitable conditions.
  • High Sampling Rate: Delivers precise and accurate data through advanced digitisation.
